WHAT WE DO
We have convened 3,000+ participants through 60+ events in four countries (U.S., U.K., India & Singapore) through media festivals, film screenings, networking lounges, competitions, panel discussions, and other community-driven workshops and events.

MEDIA RISE FESTIVALS
This week-long media festival held in the Washington D.C. includes:
-The Forum for cross-sector panel discussions on best practices
-Pitch Night to support innovative media projects for social good
-48-hour video challenge connecting causes with filmmakers
-Film screenings and discussions
-Networking lounges
-Interactive community-led workshops
YOUTH MEDIA RISE
Day-long festivals including interactive hands-on workshops for
educators and youth on critical media literacy and digital storytelling
EARLY RISE EVENTS
Half-day events with 2-3 keynote speakers
to encourage focused conversations and collaborations
among scholars, activists, artists, and community members
PARTICIPANTS
We have engaged with over 3,000+ participants, who come from various sectors such as education, government, nonprofits, and industry. We also have a large online community to keep in touch.

Our 100% volunteer-driven initiative has raised $30,000+ more in-kind support, awarded more than $8,000 in cash prizes to community projects using media for social good and helped create 13 short films to support small nonprofits.

Erica Schlaikjer
Creative Director
Erica Schlaikjer leads creative strategy, branding and marketing for Media Rise. She is a writer,
editor and creative strategist, with a passion for storytelling, sustainable cities, technology,
design and social change.
Dr. Srivi Ramasubramanian
Executive Director
Dr. Srivi Ramasubramanian guides the overall strategic vision for Media Rise. She is a media psychologist who is interested in media for social good for enhancing cultural diversity, prejudice reduction, and media literacy.
Mandar Apte
Partnerships Director
Mandar Apte helps build strategic alliances for Media Rise worldwide. He is the winner of the inaugural Ashoka League of Intrapreneurs. He has been an invited speaker at TEDx, Knowledge@Wharton and Aspen Ideas Festival.
