As many of you know, mentoring is easily the favorite part of my job as a faculty member.
So it was really special to be recognized with a "2019 Faculty Mentorship Award" for outstanding mentoring of PhD students in my department. This award is given for outstanding mentorship of graduate students and for commitment to graduate student teaching, research, and personal development.
My advisee, Anthony Ramirez, gave a very moving speech as he handed me to award. I absolutely loved the personalized beautiful handmade poster that grad students gifted me along with the certificate.
I have been grateful to receive this Faculty Mentorship Award in 2017 and 2019 apart from Faculty Appreciation Awards in 2012 and 2015 from the Communication Graduate Students Association.
